ABOUT SMA > ST MARY ABBOTS GOVERNORS

Welcome from the Chair of Governors
The Governing Body’s job is to oversee the strategic direction of the School. We regularly meet Mr Primrose and work with him to ensure everything possible is being done to ensure the school flourishes. Formally we appoint staff, make budget decisions and maintain our wonderful building. The full Governing Body meets twice a term, and we then use committees to consider issues in depth.
The heart of what we do as Governors is to define and uphold the ethos of the School. Nestled next to St Mary Abbots Church, ours is a village-like school set in the midst of bustling Kensington. We are determined to offer all children in the School a stimulating education to prepare them for the modern world. But, at the same time, the School’s values are Christian values, where caring for one another in a friendly and safe environment matters more than anything.
It is my privilege to be Chair of Governors of St Mary Abbots School. We believe that a high quality education within a Christian context provides a child with the best start they can have in life. We welcome children from all faiths and backgrounds and work in partnership with parents and the Church to build a sense of belonging to our community.
I believe that education is at the root of a creative, caring and prosperous society. St Mary Abbots School has always sought to encourage academic success while also fostering a sense of responsibility towards others. I have been a governor of the School for over 15 years, and was appointed Chair of Governors in July 2019. I live close to the School and value the role it plays in our community. The enthusiasm of our children and staff makes us all proud.
